Sybris
By sideonetrackone@gmail.com
Anyhow, lets have some fun today by way of some indie rockers called Sybris. The Chicago-based outfit had a well received self titled album way back in 2005 that I knew absolutely nothing about until yesterday when I saw it mentioned on ...

What Should We Name the New Record?

Speaking of the record we just finished, we can't seem to spit out a name for it. If you have a snappy album title or two send them over, we've got vapor lock.

We Recorded Our New Album

So we recorded our new album last week at Pacchyderm Studio in Cannon Falls Minn. It was pretty rad...The studio has a lot of history (Nirvanna, PJ Harvey) and is in the middle of fucking nowhere, 48 acres of "old Forest" and no cell phone reception for a week. It also had a guest house that looked like the place in Boogie Nights when the guy was lighting firecrackers and snorting coke. Five bedrooms indoor swimming pool and sauna. The whole place is supposed to be haunted but now some locals are telling us its "enchanted" On our final day the studio grounds were getting prepped for a full moon fest, we were loading equipment out they were moving dreamcatchers and crystals in...awesome.
We recorded it with the lovely John Congelton who is the Paper Chase dude and also recorded Explosions in the Sky and the Polyphonic Spree (and he got to work with R.Kelly..sexxy).
We had a real good time and hope you all enjoy it when it comes out this spring we will be touring all over the country and hopefully the world so keep an eye out...
We have some pictures posted in our myspace pic section and will have some other ones soon when we get off our asses and load them.
xoxo

Ohio Spring 2007 Tour - Journey to Serpent Mound

we recorded once again on the lapping banks of lake erie in port clinton, but you'll have to wait for that tune. Dalton Dominates, nuf said.

vicious burrito attacks van

Sometime after PopFest at Ohio University the van suffured a vicious attack from what appeared to be a chicken burrito. Needless to say the van won. Could this be a sign from the serpent mound?

The show itself was a good 'ol time. Cotton candy was floating near the merch so we caught it like blue whales catch plankton. (Perhaps I've been watching to much of the discover channel's planet earth.) It's sad to see that WOXY might be closing down as the southern midwest's best independent radio, if it does i nominate ACRN to pick up the slack.

great serpent mound und sybris

We arrived near dusk at the serpent mound. It was desolate. What is the serpent mound? A warning to the heavens? Alien visitation site? Ancient freak art? A tribute to the great snake god? An ancient golf course? Perhaps we will never know.

sup?

Angela was the most effected by the mounds. Here you see her throwing horns, obviously delirious from the ancient energy of the snake. Cinci represent!

sxsw 2007

Nerd Alert for April 3, 2007

yes, I am tardy. so we drove to austin, it's about 17 hours straight through from chicago, a little less because we stayed at a very stain-ed motel a few hours out. actually i slept in the van. in the morning it's all wierd clowds and kinda rainy and stuff and then we get to emo's and load in and before you know it we're playing songs. totally over before i knew it. too the max. and that's how it started, like a dust devil.

bands i saw that dominated... land of talk, oxford collapse, colour revoult, dios (or dios malos, not sure what they're calling themselves these days). circa survive put on a good set and russian circles are a band i'm very happy is on the shuv. MASTADON RULED. i missed about a million other bands that i wanted to see down there, it seemed like everyone's show was at the same time as ours.

burgers. very good cheeseburgers. i had several.

the best sxsw party was in dallas. we played ye ol cavern and then had a sockhop with raleigh. this is what it looked like.

sxsw, sybris, austin, 2007 108

oh, and there was this secret show on a pedestrian bridge all gorrilla style and what not. slam dancing and generator fumes. 3 1 2. the fog rolled in during the rockin. most egg salad.
